Due to the pandemic, I am meeting with new and existing clients via telehealth.
Hello there, my name is Dr. Ashlyne Mullen. I am a NYC based clinical psychologist. I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents. Whether you’re seeking short term therapy to cope with stress and anxiety or long term therapy to address recurring struggles or trauma, I will work with you in a collaborative and nonjudgmental space to facilitate behavior change and self-exploration.
About me
I completed my internship/post-doctoral training at the Brooklyn Veteran Affairs Medical Center. I consider myself an Acceptance and Commitment therapist (ACT) helping clients to explore their own narrative and progress toward a more fulfilling life. It is important for me to learn how culture and history have impacted my clients today. With this understanding, I incorporate evidence-based treatment to work toward a purpose-driven life while staying open to whatever life throws your way. By the end of therapy, my goal is for clients to have a better quality of life, a stronger sense of self, and greater psychological flexibility.
I have extensive training and have practiced Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for the past 10 years. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and other third-wave therapies such as Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions into my practice with clients. I have published research and presented at both national and international conferences on a variety of topics including yoga-based interventions, mindfulness, body image flexibility, procrastination, work-related stress, and illness-related depression. Currently, I am licensed in both New York and New Jersey.
